19/04/2021

The launch of the activities relating to the UOC HORIZON project recently awarded to the UOC as part of the Europe Networks and Managers - Europe Technology Centres 2020 call for grant applications, which seeks to strengthen the structure and services offered to the University's teaching and research staff by the UOC's Research and Innovation Department (ARI) through the R&I Funding unit, has begun.

The main aim of UOC HORIZON is to improve the institution's positioning and likelihood of obtaining European Union funding through competitive calls for grant applications and, in particular, through the new Horizon Europe framework programme.

The project's specific aims include:

  • Optimizing the capacity of the bid preparation, project management and communication and dissemination services so they can offer "gold" services to maximize the dissemination of Horizon Europe opportunities, helping identify calls for grant applications, planning bids, preparing competitive bids, and optimizing project management.
  • Analysing opportunities, defining funding strategies and planning the participation of the UOC's R&D&I groups in international projects and programmes, particularly focused on Horizon Europe, tailored to each group's goals and circumstances, and always in line with the institution's objectives.
  • Assisting in promoting the steering of the UOC's R&D&I activities towards Horizon Europe's challenges and objectives.
  • Strengthening inter-institutional collaboration in relation to the generation of ideas and preparation of bids, fostering synergies between the UOC's own researchers and all departments involved in R&D&I.
  • Developing sustainable partnerships with R&D&I centres, companies and international networks for the development of joint projects.
  • Reinforcing the R&D&I talent attraction policy through competitive bids tailored to the research groups' own research plans.

The tasks to be carried out include, in particular and among others, activities aimed at preparation and management, ongoing improvement and dissemination and communication, as well as plans for internationalization, inter-institutional collaboration and talent attraction plans. A specific training plan tailored to each professional profile is also included.
