IN3 researcher Ana M. González Ramos was awarded one of the Víctor Grífols i Lucas Foundation research grants offered through the 20th call for grants in the field of bioethics 2017/2018 for her project on eating disorders.

The Foundation awarded the grant on 5 November to the research project:"Ús ètic de les xarxes socials en el cas dels trastorns de conducta alimentària" (Ethical use of social media in the case of eating disorders), which investigates eating disorders in relation to social media. The project proposes taking a closer look at the messages young people receive and the impact these messages have, whilst reflecting upon the ethical and gender-oriented use of social media.

Young people are those most influenced by social media and are often constantly and sometimes unconsciously affected by socially constructed messages that are full of stereotypes. For this reason, serious thought needs to be given to the ethical implications of social media content. Content that has to do with health, adopting healthy lifestyles, the fight against gender stereotypes and body image and nutrition is of particular importance.

Congratulations!
