The UOC’s research, innovation and transfer activity is organised into 43 R&I groups linked to a department or to one of the University’s three research centres: the Internet Interdisciplinary Institute (IN3), the eLearn Center (eLC) and the eHealth Center.

  • As the UOC’s research institute, IN3 focuses its activity on the interdisciplinary area of the information and knowledge society and supports a total of ten research groups.
  • The eLC is a e-learning research, innovation and training centre essentially concerned with higher education and lifelong learning. As well as its individual members, a total of nine research and innovation groups consisting of lecturers and management staff carry out their activities there. Around one hundred and fifteen people are currently linked to it.
  • The eHealth Center is an academic centre open to the world whose goal is to educate and empower professionals and ordinary citizens, through the use of technologies, to lead the paradigm shift in health. It focuses on people, through research, education and guidance, to contribute to the progress and wellbeing of society.

As for the rest, there are twenty-four formally constituted research groups, nineteen of which are recognised by the Government of Catalonia, linked to UOC departments, specialising in the areas of arts and humanities, social sciences, health sciences and technology and communication.
